The Greenhouse inside the Greenhouse
This is my Propogation frame. After building my greenhouse I soon came to the realization that just putting up a glass house was the easy part of the project. The hard part is the temperature control! in the summer it is way too hot and in the winter way too cold. In the spring and fall it is way too cold and way to hot all in the same day!
Come to find out plants are a fickle thing when it comes to temperature! The cooling part turned out to be not so difficult. With a combination of fans, swamp cooling and thermostats I have solved the overheating issues I had originally encountered during my first year of operation. Cooling is cheap and easy as opposed to heating. The greenhouse is cool in the summer and it costs pennies a day!
Heating is another issue altogether. The greenhouse just gets too cold and unless I wanted $100 tomatoes it was best to shut it down from november to march.I also had no good place to raise seedlings and get a jump start on the season. It is necessary for me too start most of my seeds as the reason for the greenhouse is to grow things here in eastern Washington that never seem to make it in the “big” garden. I decided to build a propagating frame inside the greenhouse and with the true “overkill is better ” attitude I started construction of a heated greenhouse inside my non -heated greenhouse.
